Celebrate Spring at the Cherry Blossom Festival
When the San Francisco Cherry Blossom Festival began in 1967, who would have thought that it would grow into one of the largest cherry blossom festivals in the entire United States? Each year, over 200,000 people descend on the Japantown section of San Francisco to officially celebrate the arrival of spring. This year’s festivities take place on successive weekends: April 14-15 and April 21-22. The Japantown is about 20 minutes from the Mylo Hotel, so this is one festival that you will not want to miss. Both weekends of the celebration include traditional Japanese dance, music, and cultural activities. Plus, there will be plenty of delicious Japanese foods like tempura, beef teriyaki, and, of course, fresh sushi. The highlight of the festival is the Grand Parade on April 22, but each festival day is an experience you will not soon forget. Don’t forget to take in the sights and scents of the cherry blossoms too, the main reason for the festival in the first place!
