Edvard Munch was one of the most talented, celebrated, and controversial artists of his generation. Even though many considered him a master by the young age of 30, he himself claims that his best work came near the end of his life. Using his last self-portrait as a starting point, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art will be displaying Edvard Munch: Between the Clock and the Bed from June 24- October 9, 2017. The museum is conveniently located just 15 minutes from the Mylo Hotel. This eye-opening exhibition features 44 pieces from the late master that cover subjects such as life, love, and mortality. These masterpieces clearly display Munch’s maturity as an artist. In addition to the Munch exhibit, SFMOMA also has temporary exhibits such as Larry Sultan: Here and Home, New Work: Park McArthur, and Mike Mandel: Good 70s. You do not want to miss this opportunity to see the work of a master like Edvard Munch displayed in a new light.
